Using W3C Web Standards  Why use web standards? • By using web standards properly I ensure that I have done my part in making your site work with the largest possible number of browsing devices. • Well-structured markup that separates structure and content (HTML) from presentation (CSS) is generally much more compact than table-and-spacer-image-based tag soup. • Documents will be smaller and faster for visitors to download. • Well-written content delivered through clean, well-structured, and semantic markup is delicious food for search engine spiders and will help your rankings.

Why I don't use tables for layout: Tables should only be used as they were intended, for tabular data. The current W3C standards dictate the use of tableless design. Tableless formats make it easier for search engines to index a web site, and therefore your pages will have a better search-engine ranking.

The bottom line is: using web standards gives you peace of mind that your site will continue to work in all standards-compliant web browsers.
